Kao Fukuyama
She/Her | INTJ
09/27 - Libra

All your dreams of fame and fortune...
Are all just nightmares haunting you.

Kao is a mysterious woman with an icy gaze and blue-gray hair adorned with a delicate flower, like a memory of a long-lost peace. She's born in a place that isn't marked on maps - a mountain village that existed at the junction of worlds: between the human world and a thin layer of demonic reality. Her veins carry the blood of two worlds – demonic and human. She's a half-breed, born on the brink of two realities, where the cold silence of human fear and the raging flames of Hell colide. But Fukuyama isn't monster. She's chosen a different path, despite power that can level the earth with the sky ; her nature is ambiguous. Her mother was a human woman, wise and reserved, who in her youth saved a wounded fox. But he turned out to be not just a spirit - a demonic kitsune, a creature with deep consciousness and power, driven into exile. Their love was forbidden, but real. And when... She's born - it's a miracle ... and a curse at the same time. The locals were afraid of this kid. Her eyes glowed in the dark, and her hair turned silver-blue even in childhood. She never spoke too much, but she listened. When she was angry - branches broke, lights flickered, flowers died. But next to her mother she's quiet, gentle. But she taught her human things: patience, kindness, music, simple crafts. Kao learned to hide her nature. Her father appeared rarely - only when he felt that something was disturbing their balance. From him she got strength. From her mother - morality. Her true nature as a kitsune, a fox spirit, enables her to assume the appearance of either a genuine gray fox, one of the oldest creatures of myth, or an elegant woman with a piercing gaze and supernatural grace. She prefers to remain in the shadows, traveling alone, never becoming attached to anyone for long. Her rare appearances among demon hunters are usually marked by crises when the stakes are too high for ordinary forces to handle. She doesn't seek fame — her goal is deeper: balance. By keeping both human and the demon worlds in balance, she keeps no one from gaining an unfair advantage. Her style is calm, laconic, almost meditative. But in battle she changes: her soft features become cold, her movements are almost invisible, and her kitsune transformation is a deadly illusionary action. She doesn't seek enemies - but she doesn't forgive betrayal. Only a few things are important to her: freedom, silence, and a world where even a half-breed has the right to peace. But at the same time - her demonic side can won.

Marble fox hybrid isn't "pure", without a bunch of disorders that she struggles with internally. Every emotional state affects her powers and behavior.؛ ଓ Post-traumatic stress disorder[PTSD] - In a state of rest, things flash before her eyes that she'd not want to see again, both in the form of ordinary flashbacks and nightmares. Her sensitivity to sounds is much greater, and she tries to stay away because of that.

She made her first apperance by accident. Everything began with a lot of demonic activity in one of empty cities. Upon receiving the news that "everything had been destroyed there, and not even a demonic aura remained," Dante was in the process of preparing to visit the location. Standing in the ruins, she maintained a serene demeanor, her hands still warm from the battle's energy. She didn't introduce herself, didn't explain. She only said that “Balance is broken, and this applies not only to humans.” And disappeared. Her appearances began to recur. At the most crucial moments, when it seemed that all was lost, Kao would appear like a ghost and turn the tide of events and managed to fall down, forgetting about true reality. Later, Dante, in his own style, simply decided, giving up to his feelings: “Damn it, come with me, if you’re so useful.”
So she's settled next to the agency, although she didn't officially become a member of it. She's more of a shadow, an ally who doesn't ask, doesn't oblige, but acts when it matters.

  • At first, Lady was suspicious of Kao - she doesn't like half-demons who didn't reveal their true motivation at the first secods. She behaved rudely, aggressively even, scaring the fox away from her and making it clear that she shouldn't joke with everyone. She's supporting Vergil's words, thinking more rationally than Dante who'd be too naive as to attract KITSUNE from literally nowhere, just from a couple of battles. But over time, observing Kao's cool-headedness, dedication in battle and her attempts to help with all her might, barely sacrificing herself - Lady began to respect her. After time, they're united by pragmatism and the ability to control themselves – they don't speak much on their missions, they understand each other silently to be more cooperate. But despite this, Kao has a bit more interest in Lady than friendly, which the kitsune "jokes" and "teases" about, enjoying the black-haired woman's reactions on this.

  • Trish feels something close to her - a part of the demonic, intertwined with the human. Their relationship is almost mirrored: both are creatures looking for meaning in the world of people. Trish doesn't often talk about it, but next to Kao she doesn't feel the need to "play a role.", she can openly talk about her worries and thoughts, to which Kao will respond and tell her own ones. Their mutual silent respect has turned into a quiet friendship and they become the same closer as she with Lady and quite often to go on shopping and do other "Women Business", chilling in the each others company.

  • At first, Nero was distrustful. He finds it difficult to accept "another demonic creature" who "knows everything and says nothing." But later he sees her true side, gentle and friendly. Towards Dante,Kyrie and others. He even admires a little how she knows how to maintain self-control. Sometimes he finds it funny when she tries to be more "youthful", using newfangled words and movements, exploring the human world a little deeper.

  • Nico... Often likes to annoy Kao, from the first seconds not feeling anything strange or disturbing from her essence. As soon as Nero told her about their appearance, she immediately arrived in her van to meet her in person, asked a bunch of questions, almost begging to see the kitsune's other form. She likes how Kao tries to act serious around her overly extroverted nature, but loses in the faint smile on her lips. Nico already dreams of creating a "kitsune-style" weapon for especially for her, although Kao doesn't show too much interest in it, silently she's captivated by such stubbornness of the younger woman.Their interaction is contrasting, but lively.

  • Kao inspires peace in Kyrie. They rarely cross paths, but when it happens, an almost warmth arises between them. Kyrie sees her not as a monster, not as a fighter, but as a woman who's experienced a lot. She, in turn, respects Kyrie for her deep kindness, which doesn't need demonstrations. But still, the kitsune can often say - "Too innocent for her own good."

  • Patty's reaction to the marble fox was an instant mix of interest and wariness. The young woman immediately noticed something "not human" about this woman with gray locks and very calm voice. At first she avoided her, looked at her with wide eyes and asked questions to Dante or others, like "She's not a demon, is she?" But over time, fear turned to admiration. Kao became something of an older sister to Patty - the one who didn't babysitting, but calmly showed her how to stay collected. Sometimes, she even showed her powers... For not much reason , summoning her Fans or Twilight Gleam just to see the girl's bright, curious eyes.

  • Morrison's first impression was professional: “another creature that could be either a danger or an ally.” He'd seen a lot of weirdos, but the kitsune stood out for her poise. Morrison sensed something in her that made him wary, but at the same time he intuitively knew that she was not one of those who would betray, as Vergil and Lady had said from the beginning. Over time, he became her main intermediary in the agency’s affairs: it's to him that Kao entrusted matters with people, documents, contacts. For Morrison, she's a valuable ally whom he mentally called “cold fire.”

  • Dante doesn't ask much - he simply accepts her as she is. He knows that he can rely on her, and appreciates her, even if he doesn't show it openly. Their connection is like a silent partnership of two old wolves, tired but not yet broken. He treats Kao with respect, but also with a certain humor, as he always does with those he considers allies. He likes her calm nature because it balances out his own chaotic one. He sometimes tells her all sorts of stories about fighting demons and is ready to share a slice of pizza with her during regular get-togethers.

  • With Vergil, the situation turned out to be more complicated. As soon as she appeared in the agency thanks to Dante - he immediately feels in her a threat - either a competitor, or an ally too strong to ignore. There's a time when he demanded on giving him the opportunity to personally get rid of her, because "One day she might bestray one of us, she's from another realm, her motives may not be as innocent as she tries to look like." But she doesn't try to prove anything to him, lurking in the shadows and trying to find herself in their "family", learning about something new every day. And over time, Vergil began to notice that behind this behavior was a small creature that'd lost everything earlier and was now trying to find a new purpose, and herself in new world. And at the same time, he feels: she's the only one who isn't afraid of his essence and even... Support it somehow. And even vice versa - she watches him in the shadows, trying to learn and observe everythng from the side. Their relationship is balanced, holding on mutual understanding. But sometimes, they can verbally argue with each other, and then without too much trouble can sit and drink tea, pretending that nothing strange has happened at all. He sees her as an equal, though he's unwilling to admit it. For him now, she's a silent reminder that strength can bring not only power but also harmony.

Kao learned about their existence by accident. She accidentally overheard a conversation between the brothers, where Dante teased Vergil, telling about his "adventures" on Qliphoth and how he's erased V's familiars earlier. Her interest was piqued and she asked Vergil about their summon, because essentially - part of his demonic side was only buried deep within him, and not completely erased. And he surprisingly agreed. Maybe because of his own curiosity, or maybe... he didn't want to hear about it again. And precisely because of this, they appear quite often in the agency because... Why not?And the only thing keeping these two on more neutral and polite sides than hostile, bringing this behavior to other levels - his familiars. When she shows that there are no evil intentions to them too - Vergil becomes calmer.

  • Talkative, chatty and brazen to the bone — it's Griffon who first “hooked” Kao when he saw her silently analyzing the battlefield. Their first interaction was like an attempt by lightning to strike a glacial ice. At first, he mocked her restraint, threw sarcastic phrases, and teased her with her “royal silence.” But... she never responded. She simply looked at him — long, calmly, as if piercing to the very core. And from that moment on, he fell silent. Not because he's scared, but because for the first time he felt: this is the person you should restrain yourself in front of. Now Griffon is her unwanted commentator. He hovers next to her, pretending that he's “just unluckily tied up here” and sometimes mocks in his own style, trying to get at least some kind of reaction. And sometimes he asks to take on her other form so he can touch her tail, because “Why can this flea-ridden cat do it, but not me?”

  • Shadow is a completely different story. Initially, he regarded her with suspicion, growled, and nearly assaulted her, as he sensed Vergil's unease in proximity to her. Subsequently, the panther's emotions dissipated as the half-demons' relationship became more amicable. Because of their shared animal bond — her fox nature — he doesn't mind taking up space next to her and getting treats of all kinds. There's a legend among the agency that Shadow once fell asleep next to her, putting his head on her lap, while she's reading some old book and sipping some hot coffee.

  • Nightmare is destruction incarnate, and he cares for almost nothing but destruction. But… he reacts to Kao. When she’s around, his form sometimes becomes clearer, as if he’s trying to make sense of the world around him. Their bond isn’t friendly, but one of power. Nightmare doesn’t know if she’s an enemy or another otherworldly entity speaking on the same frequency. But he doesn’t attack her — and that’s something.

  • ⸝ In fact, she only has 3 tails, but she only uses 1 so that "it doesn't take up much space" and during battle she can't worry about anything happening to her tails. She can take on her other form for her soft tail, which she loves to cuddle with thanks to its size, or simply to clean it of dirt and dust. Or blood.

  • ⸝ Kao sleeps very little. Not because of insomnia - she just considers sleep unnecessary if something around her upsets the balance until this need becomes urgent, and she passed out. When everything is calm - she can just sit or lay somewhere on the roof and listen to the wind rustling the leaves, or just in Dante's agency on the couch. She curls up into a ball if she feels safe, but still she's very sensitive to noises, even in her small naps alone, she remains half-alert. But when she's around someone, like Lady or Vergil, she relaxes and becomes more like a lap cat, who can even purr soflty without taking on her other form.

  • ⸝ Sometimes she doesn't take on the full part of her kitsune-form, just her ears and tail, not the whole outfit. She can do this when asked or for personal reasons when she feels safe and comfortable enough. However, because of this - the balance between her forms can be partially "broken" when the limit between these is exaggerated and she can see, hear and understand things that... She shouldn't.

  • ⸝ She likes to walk barefoot during the rain, because she feels the ground more strongly that way. Her fox-soul seems to dance in drops of water.

  • ⸝ She doesn't wear much jewelry, except for this crystal blue flower. It never fades and she never explains why she doesn't take it off.

  • ⸝ She can't stand loud parties and other loud noises. She's annoyed by too much number of people, and she constantly tries to stay away, drink coffee and watch, as if... Observing.

  • ⸝ Her favorite dish is rice balls with sesame and seaweed, which she prepares herself. Someone once called them "Taste of Peace" - and Kao was secretly proud. Her fav drink is white tea or jasmine. She has her own little engraved teapot, brought from another world, which she uses only when she's completely relaxed.

  • ⸝ She collects small fragments of ceramics. She says that in every crack there's beauty that others don't fully see. They're symbols of renewal.

  • ⸝ Her first weapon was a gift from her human mother - silver knife engraved with symbol "Silence". She keeps it and hasn't used it for a long time although.

  • ⸝ Kao can often sing not for the sake of recovery, but... Just for herself, thereby stretching her vocal cords because although she speaks, she doesn't do it very often. Therefore, on solo missions she can take a walk, or while cleaning - hum a song, dancing to the rhythm. But sometimes she would sing, which all the nearest demons within a radius of forty meters could hear her. Or, a mop or broom would become her imaginary guitar. "Evil on your mind, trouble at your feet. Living by the gun, the devil's got you beat!"

Her energy is “Night Balance”: a balance between illusion and reality, cold and fire, human and demon. Her fighting style is graceful, almost dance-like, quick attacks, and a sense of time and space. Her strength lies not in brute power, but in precision, control, and... psychological pressure.

Weapon :

[I] Fan of Blindness: They look like as simple fans because they're often used in very hot weather, but in fact they carry destructive force, inflicting a lot of bloody wounds on the enemy. Depends on the strength of it's swing.

[II] Twilight Gleam : Illusionary sphere, where the enemy experiences time slowing down and distorted surroundings or themselves - Used to avoid blows, disorient the enemy, or hide for a counterattack.

[III] FoxFang : This weapon is quite functional, actually. Both during combat and in everyday life. On the battlefield it's used as a "plan B" when finishing off the enemy, and in life... You can even cut butter with it if there's no knife nearby or something like that.

Passive Skills :

[I] Regeneration through rest or singing : When she's not attacking or using active powers and she's just doing something... Peaceful - her body slowly recovers.

[II] Back Echo : If someone tries to use magical mental influence on her (some demon, for example), her energy partially bounces back, disorienting opponent. Even though it doesn't always fail completely, it always crumbles.

[III] High intuition : She can usually detect dangers several minutes before they materialize, and she can tell the difference between a masking demon and a human with ease.

[IV] Whisper of the Old Grove : As creature who's senses nature, she draws strength from it, even in the concrete world - Increases the efficiency of regeneration near vegetation or water and a slight advantage in combat conditions in nature (better oriented).

[V] Echoes of the Forgotten : Her memory contains elements of demonic history, allowing her to recognize enemies and their weaknesses. After several attacks on one enemy, she "analyzes" it - unlocking a passive damage bonus. Some enemies are immediately revealed to her through auto-scanning of demons from the past.

Weaknesses :

[I] Fire of Truth : Holy, light, or angelic energy doesn't harm her directly, but it disrupts her harmony: She becomes vulnerable, loses precision and control, and loses access to “subtle” techniques (illusions, slowing down time).

[II] Energy overload : The more she overexerts herself, both physically and emotionally, her mind decreases and weakens, causing her to "break", becoming more fragile and not always able to control her own powers. Constant use of magic during battles or in everyday life may not always lead to something good for her or for others.

[III] Lack of direct protection : She has no “armor” in the classical sense. Her style is evasion, distraction, precision. If she's caught in an open attack, she'll suffer. Her body, although half-demonic, cannot withstand direct pressure like Nero, Dante, or Vergil’s attacks without consequences. Skill is her defense. But not eternal.

[IV] Emotional instability : Thinking is useful, but not as much as she does. Despite her cold appearance, movements and head, inside her is a whole cemetery of deeply buried emotions that can manifest themselves during a trigger (words or actions). Often holding back, she sinks deeper and deeper into her own hole and can inadvertently break down, lose control, and then... Disappear until the moment of complete moral recovery.

[V] Between evil and humanity : She's constantly balancing on a fine line: her demonic part whispers about power, absolute control, indifference... but her human part is drawn to emotions, warmth, compassion. When she fights or “goes through” with her demonic form for too long, her human part begins to “crack” - she becomes cold, apathetic, dangerously efficient. It's like losing herself, drop by drop. She's to bring herself back - through calm, rituals, conversations with those who understand her.

[VI] “Too mortal to be immortal” : Her body is half-human, and although she pretends to be capable of anything in the world, her inner self is slowly fading away and she cannot stop this process, which she fears. She's afraid that one day she'll become too weak that even a human will be able to erase her.

[VII] Dependence on "energy geography" : She's only strong where there's a balance of power or neutral territory. On “sacred ground” (where light dominates) or “cursed place” (where complete demonic darkness) - her powers begin to “de-layer.” She loses the ability to focus precisely.
